We are a fourth generation family Funeral Directors business with three generations of the Howarth family still working together in the business.

Howarth Funeral Service are members of The National Association of Funeral Directors, The Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors, The British Institute of Funeral Directors and the British Institute of Embalmers.

We strictly adhere to the Code of Practice of our affiliated trade associations.

Howarth Funeral Service Wakefield is owned by Ian Howarth J.P. Dip.FD., MBIE, BIFD, NAFD.

We are the leading Wakefield Funeral Service, Howarths were originally known as C & R Howarth Joiners and Undertakers. Ian's eldest son, Neil Howarth, is an experienced Funeral Director having worked in the business for over 18 years; his role is in the general arranging and conducting of funerals.

Ian's Father Raymond Howarth (now 87 years old) has retired from being an Undertaker but still likes to help out where he can.

Marilyn (Ian's Wife) has worked in the business for a number of years.

Marilyn Arranges and caters for functions and funeral buffets in our function rooms adjoining our premises at Denby Dale Road, Thornes in Wakefield.

Daughter Sophie Morley has a key role in the running of the Office, Sophie assists with funeral arrangements and arranges pre-paid funeral plans.

Maria Bettison M.B.I.E. has worked for Howarth's, since leaving school, Maria is a qualified embalmer and plays a key role in the running of the office and in the care of the deceased.
